Law School Ball

 

 The law school had their annual "Barrister's Ball" (can you say adult prom? So awesome.) this week and since neither JP or I can pass up an opportunity to dress up, we put on our fancy clothes and joined the rest of BYU law school in some dinner, award-giving, and most importantly, dancing!

... Have you ever seen law students dance? Hi-lar-ious. I highly recommend it. They really know how to get down.

You know what's hilarious to me every, single, year?

How upset and surprised people are when it snows in March. 

We live in UTAH, remember?

It snows in March every year, without fail. 

It has snowed for the past as-many-years-i-can-remember and I would bet a lot of money that come next March... SURPRISE! More snow.

Sometimes I forget how cathartic a good cry can be. 

Not to be dramatic, nothing bad has in my life has happened or anything, but you know when everything has been building up (and you don't even realize it) until someone (usually my mom or friend Markell) asks me how I'm really doing, and then BAM. Floodgates are opened and all the frustration comes pouring out in one big torrent. 

This woe-is-me episode usually lasts for about 12.5 seconds until we start laughing at my failed attempt to hide the fact that I'm crying in public. 

My perspective is restored and I can once again see clearly that everything isn't as bad as it seems and that I don't have (thankfully) a real reason to have an emotional breakdown (besides the fact that I'm a girl? Can I play that card?)

Okay, 

WHY are memes so hilarious to me?

Seriously, they get me every time.  

But when I try to share them with other people NO ONE appreciates their hilariousness adequately... And the one person who was right there with me on the this-meme-is-the-funniest-thing-I've-ever-read level is currently across the country spreading the gospel in New Jersey, so THANKS A LOT ANNE, I'm completely on my own now in the meme department.

Only 3 weeks left til finals! 3! 

That's nothing. 3 weeks is the length of time I spent in Australia last year, how long I go between doing loads of laundry, how long it takes me to start and finish a TV series on Netflix, and lets be honest: I could probably read the whole Harry Potter series in 3 weeks if I put my mind to it. 

Long story short: 

There's  light at the end of the tunnel! 

Not that I'll be entirely free from studying... instead of going to class and doing homework for school I'll just study for the MCAT more haha but STILL, freedom is just around the corner :)

St. Patty's Day

Upon getting dressed I really thought my dress was green... a light shade perhaps... but green nonetheless! 

However I was informed by the 6-year-olds I teach in Primary that it was definitely yellow and the only thing saving me from a pinch was my green necklace - thank. heavens. 

I have a hard enough time keeping their attention without also trying to dodge pinches haha.

My Inaugural UFC Experience:

For JP's birthday last week (that guy managed to get like a week long celebration by the time it was all said and done!) he wanted my family to all go out to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings. 

(Ever heard of it? haha. jk. kind of. I hadn't...)

ANYWAYS, we happened to go the night there was a big UFC fight and the placed was packed! Seriously, how had I never heard of this place before when half of Utah showed up to watch the fight. But I have to say it was one of the funnest nights out in recent memory; we ate wings -- my personal favorite sauces were this jalepeno one and the honey bbq -- and cheesy fries and nachos and watched people get beat up on 8 massive screens, so it was a win-win all around!

 ... okay but seriously, does it not look like that crown thing is floating above my head? Now you see it don't you. creeeeeepy.

 How classic is this?!

Guys, it's JP's birthday today! He's 27! 

Why is it that 27 sounds so much older than 26? Have you noticed that with some ages?

I remember when I turned 17 I was like WHOA, how did this happen. 

But then when I turned 21 I was like ehh... whatever. 

Anyways, birthday festivities are currently being planned for this evening and to kick it off we're both going to school all day - Can I get a hip hip hooray?!  

I guess we've transitioned to the adult world of birthdays now, where responsibilities don't get to be put on hold to celebrate your birth, but that's okay because you still have an AWESOME excuse to eat as many cupcakes as you want without feeling too guilty.

So Happy Birthday Jean Paul!! Love you with all my heart!

Wait, What's a Weekend?

I sincerely hope your Saturday was more fun than mine:

I woke up, got dressed, came to the library, and now 9 hours later I am leaving. 

This whole MCAT/getting into med school thing better be worth it!

But my day wasn't entirely boring, because I found a bunch of awesome things online when I would take my mandatory surf-the-internet study breaks every couple hours (you all know what I mean).

Wedding Season is Coming Up...

Guys, wedding season is coming up! 
I had to miss a friend's wedding tonight because I had mandatory TA meetings and I was so sad about it! But it was alright because:
a) I feel like I was there vicariously through my friends' instagram posts haha and
b) Slowly but surely, more and more wedding invitations have started arriving in the mail, and few things make me more happy than receiving wedding invitations! 

{Seriously though, I love them -- our entire fridge is almost completely covered with every single wedding invitation JP and I have received since we got married... haha}   

Speaking of awesome weddings... my friend Rachel (who I was a bridesmaid for) got her wedding pictures back this week and I think they are so beautiful I had to share a few!

Family Picture Time?

We took family pictures this last week because with my sister Anne leaving on her mission and everything, our family isn't going to be all together for 18 months! 

So it was decided that family pictures were probably a good thing to have taken because the last time we took family pictures was... umm.... never? Literally. We have never taken official family photo-shoot pictures before, so the whole experience was actually pretty hilarious. 

(I mean, I'm already not super comfortable with the whole posing in front of a camera thing... and apparently it's a family trait)
