Happy Valentines Day!

I hope you're spending it with people you love!
As for me, I don't get to see the one I love until about 9:00 PM tonight, but that's life isn't it?

Oh, and just because this quote still gets me everytime:

So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're

gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that

because I want you. I want all of you, for ever, you and me,

every day. ]

My Sister's a Model!

It wasn't quite New York Fashion Week BUT, it was close.

BYU put on their first ever student-designer fashion show and it was so sweet!
There were about 10 designers, and they had all designed and sewn anywhere from 4-10 different looks and then had them modelled by over 75 models on the runway!

My sister was one of those models, and so was her friend Emily! The designer's clothes they wore were made from completely recycled and thrifted fabrics, which I thought was so cool.
Since my sewing abilities are limited to sewing a button back onto a coat, I was really impressed by all the designers' abilities to make clothes that:
A) fit their model properly &
B) don't look homemade

Hopefully this fashion show becomes a permanent tradition!
BYU needs some things to boost its "cool factor"  :)

A Winter Wedding

This weekend we attended my good friend Hayley's wedding reception!
We caravanned with some friends to make the drive up to Salt Lake City- which is about 40 minutes away normally, but thanks to the spontaneous blizzard it took us over an hour to finally get there!
But seriously, it was such a fun night. We danced, caught up with friends, admired how gorgeous Hayley and her new husband Stew looked, etc.
You know, all the reasons you go to weddings in the first place haha

 ^^^ Friends!

 ^^^ Beautiful Venue!

 ^^ Chocolate shots... mmmm...

 ^^^ She's stunning, am I right??

^^^ I might have been caught double-fisting wedding cake and frites... #noregrets

^^^ Meet Markell and Chelsea. They are my two tallest friends and are ALWAYS the biggest rivals during the bouquet toss. Probably one of the funniest things you'll ever get to see.

^^^ JP loves dancing, loves it! And it makes him the best wedding-attending partner ever :)

 ^^^ sparkler send-off!

 ^^^ love this guy

Congrats Hayley and Stew!

Hello everyone!
Shabby Apple dress shop is giving away a $50 gift card to a Life in Technicolor reader!
I've been a huge fan of their classy-vintage-with-a-twist dresses for several years now, and in fact, I just wore this lace number as a bridesmaid's dress for a wedding I was in!
So needless to say I am pretty excited about this giveaway haha.

1) Be a follower of "Life in Technicolor"
2) “Like” Shabby Apple on Facebook
3) Leave a comment below citing which Shabby Apple dress or other item is your favorite!

My personal favs right now are this polka dot peplum beauty (I'm a huge sucker for polka dots!) and this scalloped yellow dress that makes me REALLY wish it was Summertime...

Superbowl XLVII

I seriously love Superbowl Sunday.
The food, the family, the commercials, the food, the tweets -- it's probably my second favorite Sunday of the year!
(Right behind The Academy Awards Sunday... coming up in a few weeks!! Aah!)

This year did not disappoint; between the sweet pork quesadillas, homemade red velvet cupcakes, and the hilariously awkward commentary during the stadium power outage, it hardly mattered that I don't understand the game of football very well ;)

Although the pseudo-Destiny's Child reunion didn't quite live up to my halftime show expectations, the commercials always come through for me. I was almost brought to tears by the Budweiser Clydesdale horse commercial, and the Dodge Truck farmer commercial too. And I loved the Taco Bell-Old Folks Home commercial! How could you not? Am I right? haha
What were your favorites??

Somehow this ends up happening every year...

I couldn't manage to get one of everyone! But our upstairs was transformed into quite the home theatre haha.

26 Acts in 28 days

So I realize I'm a little late here, but I've just heard about this "26 random acts of kindness" to honor the lives of those who were killed in the Sandyhook Elementary school shooting, so I've decided to commit myself this month and do it!
(That's about one a day, giving myself a little wiggle room just in case I forget to on a couple days. )

I think this is the neatest idea! And such an inspired way to try to make this world a better place, even while there are those trying to tear it down.
I read a quote in one of the articles that said:
"Can you imagine the impact if every person touched by the bravery of those killed at Sandyhook committed themselves to do just 26 acts of random kindness? I'd like to see a world like that."

So there you have it! I think it's interesting that I'm just hearing about his campaign now -- this past month I've found myself feeling completely overwhelmed and like I don't even have enough time to finish what I need to do, let alone do anything for other people. And as a result I've noticed my happiness narrow, trivial matters consume me, and I've began to lose perspective of what is really important. And I'm tired of feeling like that.
So who's with me?
