And we have decided!

So, as some of you may know, Mr JP wants to be a lawyer.
He took the LSAT back here, applied to a bunch of schools a few months later, and then we got to play the waiting game.

But soon enough the letters started coming in and because Mr JP works so hard (a little husband-bragging moment, sorry about that) we had lots of choices as to where he could go this Fall!
Did we want to move to the east coast? Live in California? We were in major life-decision mode for a while (which I haven't really had to be in since, well, right before I got engaged) but Mr JP finally made his decision and will be attending BYU Law School this Fall!!

Way to go darling!
And this way I get to finish school too, so thank you for that :)

In honor of this decision, here is a really great picture of us from the last time we hiked the Y where it looks like I am not wearing shorts but actually I am:

Memorial Weekend: Summed Up

Our weekend consisted of:

 a drive to St. George
+
a mixed doubles tennis match that Mr. JP and I lost in a TIEBREAKER
 +
a little excursion through Colorado City
(Hello Polygamists! It was craaazzzzyyy)
+
an expectation of warm weather that was sorely misleading
+
a little view of one of the 7 wonders of the world (i.e. The Grand Canyon)
 +
Want to know what makes the Grand Canyon even more fun? Having someone with you that's afraid of heights -- that way there's never a dull moment
+
sharing the Grand Canyon with people from 28 different states! (I counted all the license plates, so that's an exact number)
+
a delicious salmon dinner in the bustling city of Kanab (population: just over 3,000)
+
FINALLY watching all three Lord of the Ring movies (Mr. JP has been dying for me to see them, and I think achieving that goal was his favorite part of the weekend ha!)

It was a little bit chilly:

and windy:

This is definitely not the one who is afraid of heights,
he was basically jumping off cliffs the whole time:

The whole family (minus the older brother, unfortunately)
Oh, and Mr. JP's hair and the wind got in a fight -- guess who lost...

Can't Complain

This Spring has been lovely.
Love my job, my classes, the incredible weather we've been having, etc.

But when people inquire as to How I'm Doing, I have found myself responding with:
"Oh you know, can't complain."

Can't complain? Seriously? Are those the two words I want summing up my life?

I don't really like that at all.

So I'm making a change. For the better: I'm going to be better.
It's not so much my surroundings that need a renovation as much as I do personally -- my attitude, goals, and outlook.

So here's to actually living a bit more proactively.
No more of this "can't complain" nonsense.  :)

And speaking of living in the moment a bit more,
want to know one of my absolute most favorite things in the world?
Spontaneous lunch dates with Mr. JP.
We make a pretty dang good team when it comes to scouting out good restaurants.

Solar Eclipse!

Hopefully you didn't miss the solar eclipse that happened yesterday... because the next one isn't going to happen until 2023!
Equipped with special glasses from the Clark Planetarium, CD's, and paper plates, we were able to have a pretty good view of the show!
[you had to look at it through something else, because otherwise it would burn your retina... obviously]
I heard that X-ray film worked well as a viewing shield, as did Twix wrappers!
So, what'd you use?

Happy Solar Eclipse! :)

A Little Hike:

Yesterday was so nice a few of us decided that a hike to Stewart Falls was really the best thing to do.

Hope your weekend has been fabulous!

An Engagement Party:

Last night my mom threw an engagement party for the lovely couple Will and Eliza!
(I mentioned their engagement back here).
Will is my cousin and I am SO excited for Eliza to be my cousin soon too!
Last weekend I got to help make some of the crafts (table arrangments, wreaths, etc) for her wedding and let me tell you, it is going to be AMAZING! Sort of a rustic-vintage-shabby chic feel - Eliza has the best taste too, so it’s going to be unreal. I’m so excited to see it all put together.

Anyways, the engagement party was so much fun! There was dinner, a round of “The Newly-Wed Game,” and such a clever theme! My mom is such a master party planner that she had water bottles with “Will & Eliza” labels, vintage table cloths (to keep with the wedding theme), and all the guests were instructed to bring their favorite recipe, along with all the non-perishable ingredients to go along with it – cute huh?

The master party planner herself, isn't she beautiful?!

 The Newly-Wed Game = Hilarious

 Ahh! The cutest couple!

A Monday Lifesaver:

Today was not a good Monday for us.
I woke up with a headache that progressed to a migraine and ended with me missing my last class of the day and having to take a two-hour test while seeing double-vision -- it was a party, let me tell you.

And then poor Mr. JP, he runs home from work almost everyday, but today- either because it was so hot or he hadn't drank enough water throughout the day- arrived at home basically suffering from heat stroke.
So needless to say, at about 6 o'clock PM we were both laying on the floor of our apartment in pitiful condition.

And then, for some reason, it began to be kind of hilarious how unfortunate our situation was, and it was decided that the best option at that point was to make a recently-pinned
Lime Slush:

Ingredients:

Vanilla Ice Cream
Sprite or 7up
Ice
1 tsp. vanilla per batch
Lime Juice

* fill your blender with ice cream. gradually add soda. squeeze in lime juice according to desired tartness and lots of ice.

* blend well.

* There isn't an exact measurement to these- you just want them to end up thick and sour. You'll find the perfect concoction.

[Disclaimer --> the first batch we made I might have put in like half a cup of lime juice which was about 5x's too much... so maybe add that particular ingredient sparingly.]

A Wedding for Dinner & Sweet Tooth Fairy for Dessert:

This past Friday one of my London girls Devri got married! She was a beautiful bride and the wedding was at the Grand America Hotel, which, let me tell you, is fabulously fancy and made me feel a little bit like I was at a swanky party from Mad Men... (told you I was obsessed).
There was food and dancing to a live band and I finally got to catch up with Molly Jane which I had been dying to do forever!

And what better way to finish the night off than with a cupcake from Sweet Tooth Fairy? Try the Creme Brulee. It's hands-down my new favorite. :)

Sidenote: This Spring semester I've become frightfully good at putting off homework and studying, so much so that tomorrow I am pretty sure I have 7 hours of schoolwork to do before Monday morning, so I have that to look forward to haha.

I hope your weekend was wonderful!

Just a little obsessed...

I finished season 2 last night (all the seasons are on Netflix!) and I am totally consumed with it.
It's fabulous - the story line, the script, the culture and atmosphere of early 1960's America, and mostly the CLOTHES! They are unreal.
I'm a little bit worried about how I'm going to handle it when I catch up and have to wait a whole WEEK for the next episode... haha
